Tips and Tricks for creating the ultimate cookies

You've arrived seeking a touch of inspiration, guidance, and expertise.

Not an issue. Throughout the last 4 years, we have curated a plethora of diverse cookie themes and stamp collections. Our meticulous design process is infused with care and thoughtful consideration, aimed at enhancing the creating experience for our esteemed bakers.

We believe when creating the perfect cookie sets you need the following:

  • A stamp that is an instant winner, the show stopper, the one that you put lots of time and effort in to create. This stamp is the core of the theme, it ties all the other stamps in and will be the crowed favourite. e.g. Baby in bloom set, then add a baby in bloom stamp as your main piece, two tone this stamp, add paint, edible glitter, colour, sprinkles, moulds ect to make sure this stamp stands out
  • 2 - 3 (depending on how big your order is) mini theme stamps) complementing stamps to the theme. These will still take time to craft but not necessary the show stopper or the ones you put an incredible amount of time and detail into. e.g. - following the Baby in bloom theme. Add the baby in the bassinet, or the blank bassinet and add flower moulds, baby themed moulds in the gender colour or neutral tones to compliment this stamp, a baby bottle stamp, baby in heart, pregnant mum, little booties - an array of these baby themed stamps depending on the size and customers budget.
  • Personalisation - customers will absolutely swoon when they see a custom stamp (unless the specifically asked not to have one) but in most cases every customer wants to see in writing exactly what they are celebrating. For brides to be - (name) is a bride to be, Future Mrs (last name), Baby (last name), Baby (last name) is on the way, (name) last hoedown, (name) birthday or (name) is (age) today! This can be done in two different ways either by using a pre designed stamp you can just add the name too, a simple shape or wavy design then customising this with your own font set or perhaps you have the budget from the customer to completely create a custom designed stamp for them (by us of course 😉 )
  • mini stamps - now if you’re printing these stamps at home this is simply done, we provide a free tutorial on how to create a mini stamp or perhaps you would like us to create mini versions of our stamps in you printed orders. Mini stamps are not only cute but they can be used to create a wow factor to your ordinary and simple stamps you’ve put into your set.
  • Simple - add a simple design in, this ties everything together now and stops your set from being overdone and intrinsically confusing for the customer or perhaps your product photography.

Colour Scheme

Ask for your customer to provide you with an invitation, Pinterest board, mood mood or tones and they are going for to give you the best ideas on which colour palate to go with for your design. Perhaps you are a colour queen (or king) and see a vision or palate in mind for your customer therefore you can show them what may work too. I find complementing colours with pops of gold, silver, black or white always work best.  Stick with your vibe though, if you prefer creating muted tone cookies and your social media reflects this then your customers are going to choose you to do their cookies with those types of tones in mind. Alternatively, challenging yourself to something new is always fun too!

Product Photography

Sugar cookies. take. time! Let’s say it louder for the ones in the back SUGAR COOKIES. TAKE. TIME! invest in taking pictures of your hard work, they do not have to be perfect but as a business owner when looking to work with bakers I look for these particular things and your customers are probably doing the same!

  • Clear, pleasing to the eye photos
  • Products standing out
  • White based tone photos and by that I mean no dark edges or shadows in your photographs
  • No filters (but yes, pop it through Lightroom and adjust the clarity and tone of the picture to be bright) but no grain filters or instagram filters over the top.
  • Consistent back drops that are not dark in colours nor too light. I find white can be a little too harsh and take away from the tone of your cookies, investing in a backdrop that’s slightly off white, has a slight marble tone through it or a pastel muted colour works best.
  • Do not change the colour of your cookies in filters. Customers want to see if your social media pics match the cookies in real life, providing that consistency will give you a re occurring client base.
  • Keep it simple, create an array of stamps to showcase all the designs then photograph close details or stamps individually from the array. This way you don’t cause breakage either and minimal disruption to your hard work.
  • Choose a good camera and invest in paying for Lightroom. Generally everyone uses their phone which is fine but running your pictures through Lightroom can increase the quality of your image also. If you have the budget invest in a mirrorless camera they take clean, clear, crisp images.

Most of all have fun, speak with your customers about your idea’s, set the scene for what you vibe and how you want to present your cookies. Having professional looking and high quality designs, images and colour palates can attract new customers and people will often book you in to create and bake for them based on how you present your work on social media.

Goodluck and reach out to us via email or social media if you want to discuss any further details we are always happy to help!

kind regards,
